Interfacing with SoftMaker

Post by Freddie » Fri May 05, 2017 3:14 pm

For those who have wondered about the dBase functionality in TextMaker, which actually works very well, and the lack of the DataMaker application in the UK. The Open Source Lazarus development environment might be of interest. This is an Open Source Delphi like environment which can work with dBase files in a number of ways. So tables created in TextMaker may be turned into more sophisticated database applications. Alternatively, TextMaker may be used to open dBase tables developed in Lazarus for, example, mail merge purposes. There may be other ways of working with PlanMaker as well, so it may be worth a look. See; http://www.lazarus-ide.org/

The SoftMaker team might also like to take a look at this interesting Open Source development environment. :)

Thanks for the info. Looks interesting. I'm going to check out Lazurus.
Unfortunately many/most users of TextMaker will neither be interested in creating nor have the skills to create database applications in the Lazurus environment. They will just want a DataMaker-type program ready to use straight off. So many users are waiting (hoping) for SoftMaker to reintroduce DataMaker.
