Sent file loses password protection

Post by PeteCC » Sat Mar 10, 2018 12:04 pm

When you 'send' (share) a password protected (docx) file it loses its password protection. Is there some reason for this or is it a bug?

Which program is used to open the docx file? TextMakerHD seems to have no problems with password protected docx files.

Here is what I did:
1. I opened TextMakerHD on ym Android phone (Android 7)
2. Then I typed something
3. Now I set a read password
4. I saved the file on .docx file format
5. I re-started TextMakerHD and opened the docx file
=> It asked for the password. When I entered the correct password the file opened properly.

Sorry, I said 'sent' or shared, not saved.

Do as you have done - then open the file with TextMakerHD, provide the password. Then select File>Send... then select "Word 2007-2013 document" and a destination app - I've tried both a cloud storage app (Sync.com) and a file explorer (X-plore) - the file will be provided to the target application without password protection (Android 7.1.1).

Ok, I can now confirm this issue. It happens also with tmd files sent to Google Drive. I will inform the developers.
