Re: New dark mode

I'm right there with you, Woody. The first computer I bought was an Atari ST, because at the time it was the only computer (other than the prohibitively expensive Mac) that had a decent black-on-white display.

Re: Scans are black

I admit that this is a very annoying error. But as the SoftMaker people can't reproduce it either, how about a workaround: Instead of importing from scanner into FlexiPDF, why not do the scan with any scanning program, save as PDF and open the PDF in FlexiPDF?

Re: Paste Without Formatting

Strictly speaking, there is no such thing as unformatted text in TextMaker. Text always has formatting (font, style, size). "Paste as unformatted text" means that the pasted text will take the formatting of the place it is pasted into, while "Paste as formatted text" means it wil...

Maybe it’s not in the MegaFont NOW collection presently on sale. I own an older version called MegaFont XXL with more than 12000 fonts (MegaFont NOW has only 7500).

Re: Speaking of fonts ...

I shouldn't worry too much. Even if there is a certain hype about Gill's behaviour now (which has been known since Fiona McCarthy’s biography was published in 1989) Gill Sans is too deeply ingrained in typography and displays all over the world to be discarded easily. But as you are looking for a So...

Re: Hidden first column

If you are really talking about TextMaker (not PlanMaker): Unfortunately, parts of a table (columns or lines) cannot be hidden in TextMaker, they are always visible.

Re: Paste Without Formatting

Yes, but Alt+Ctrl+V opens the "Paste special" dialog where you have to select "Unformatted text" first before pasting. With a self-defined keyboard shortcut for "Paste plain text" pasting as text can be done without an additional dialog.

Re: Paste Without Formatting

How do you proceed? If you use Ctrl+V or the "Paste" command, only formatted text will be pasted. To paste without formatting, you should use the "Paste special" command (Alt+Shift+V) instead. (Ribbon interface: click the black triangle beneath the far left icon in the "Home...

Hi Woody - good news: the option you wanted (as many other users did) has been implemented in SoftMaker Office 2024/NX.

Re: looking for text in a specified font

Is there a way to search the text specifying the used font for it ? Yes, there is. When you click "Replace" (ribbon) or Edit > Replace (classic menu), a new dialog box with two tabs opens. Change the tab from "Replace" to "Search", then click the middle button at the b...

Re: Formulas in a table are lost when the file is saved

Probably not, as this is a deficiency in Word, not in TextMaker. TextMaker has some additional features Word has not, so they are not preserved when documents are saved in Microsoft formats. The only possible alternative would be to remove these features in TextMaker as well, but that would serve no...

Re: Formulas in a table are lost when the file is saved

Probably the old Microsoft *.doc format cannot handle TextMaker's table formulae. When you save your document as *.tmd or *.tmdx, this shouldn’t happen.
