Sorry, it's in tab "View", not in tab "Colours". My mistake. #-o

Re: Made PDF on Jumpdrive and No Background Color

Well, John, you're really tweaking TextMaker for all it's worth! :) But this also works: Right-click the picture, select "Picture properties...", go to tab "Picture" and click "More...". Then check "Mix with Colour" and choose the colour you want (or define a ...

Re: Is it possible to run both 2016 and 2018 on the same computer?

Basically it is. But there have been bug reports in the German forum that, when opening files by double-clicking from an explorer window or the desktop, sometimes the wrong program version starts. If you start the program first and open files from within the program, there will be no problems.

File > Properties..., tab "Colours". Check "Print page background".

I admit, this is a well hidden one...

Re: MegaFont NEXT - choosing a typeface

All the font families you mentioned are longstanding, proofed and trustworthy faces fully suitable for any longer work of fiction (btw: I don't see Garamond in use for genre fiction only; in my opinion it's one of the most versatile font faces ever). In other words: You may use any of these safely, ...

Re: Textmaker, WYSIWYG HTML, and device convergence

Using HTML as a universal exchange format for word processor documents sounds like a rather quirky idea to me. The de facto exchange formats everybody works with are rtf, doc, docx and pdf, and SoftMaker makes a good job with these.

Re: Windows XP still in use?

Freddie, I completely agree with you (in fact, I wrote something similar in the German forum in January). By the way, it's quite the same with Mac OS X which reached the top at 10.6.8 and has been on its way downhill since then.

Re: Windows XP still in use?

I'm running Windows XP in a virtual machine on my Mac. The Windows system has no internet connection, so security risks are minimized. I also have a Windows 7 licence here, but until now I was simply too lazy to set it up. I use Windows almost exclusively for SoftMaker Office, so XP meets all my nee...

Re: About an article on Linux Format magazine...

Quite correct. After all, criticising Solitaire for not providing text editing features would be like criticising an apple for not being orangey enough, wouldn't it?

Re: About an article on Linux Format magazine...

Not to mark down a program for lacking features, giving the reason "They didn't attempt to do this" is indeed ... funny. :-o
It's hard not to see some bias here.
At least they admit that they don't understand their own review. Isn't this what an editor is supposed to do?

Re: iPhone sales are estimated to reach 10 millions soon

Well, Apple of course tries to promote its own Pages app, which is about the only halfway decent word processor for iOS. I don't say Pages is a bad app, but its philosophy is so different from what we are used to in word processor gui's that it is not so easy to adjust to. TextMaker offers more poss...

Re: TextMaker for OS X

I regret SoftMaker's decision not to develop for OS X (or iOS, for that) as much as you do, but with a staff of 37, they obviously are already at their limits to produce and maintain their applications for Windows, Linux and Android (and again, personally I would have very much preferred an iOS vers...
