Re: "Hamburger Menu" disappeared: How should I radically uninstall/reinstall Softmaker 2018 to get it back?
If I remember correctly, menu settings are stored in the file "tmw18tools.dat". As a first try, you could move this file out of the "Settings" folder. If this doesn't work, a systematic proceeding would be: first to move all content out of "Settings" and then replace th...

Re: "Hamburger Menu" disappeared: How should I radically uninstall/reinstall Softmaker 2018 to get it back?
Did you have a look at C:\Users\<My username>\MyDocuments\Softmaker\? By default, this folder should contain a subfolder "Settings" with all individual settings. If you rename this subfolder and restart the program, SoftMaker Office should return to its default settings and it shouldn't ev...

Re: Saving as .docx with TM 2016 and saving as .docx with TM 2018. What is the difference?
Where do I find the "Compatibility Assistant" touted in the Softmaker blog? I have been searching the TM 2018 menu's for the Compatibility Assistant, but no luck. With this assistant one can make quite sure that all of your files will by compatible with MS Office. It's quite well hidden: ...

Re: How do I set the position of tab stops in my default template?
Open the template, invoke Format > Paragraph Style..., choose "Normal" and click "Edit..." (or select "Normal" in the Paragraph style list in the sidebar and click "Edit..." there). In tab "Tabs", set "Default width" to 1 cm and click "...

Re: Saving as .docx with TM 2016 and saving as .docx with TM 2018. What is the difference?
Just to make it quite clear for the slow ones (like me  ): When I save as *.tmdx, I get a *.docx supporting the (few) additional features only TextMaker has. So, if I'm sure my document will stay within the SoftMaker realm, I'm better off with *.tmdx. Otherwise, *.docx is the format of choice....

Re: R-click to change font characteristics
You are used to change font characteristics via the right-click (context) menu and want to have this feature in TextMaker, too. This is understandable and a legitimate wish. But, as ecbritz already pointed out, this way is not more efficient than the TextMaker way. It's select text - right-click - c...

Re: font substitution
There is no way to change a font before you open a document, but the Search-and-Replace function in TextMaker allows to search for fonts and replace them. Just click the "Format..." button in the Replace dialogue box (it gives access to all character style options), then use "Replace ...

It wasn't so obvious. I hope SoftMaker will be able to solve this problem.

Re: Useability
You may also want to explore the options in object properties of pictures. There is a lot you can do with pictures in TextMaker, especially if you insert them as object frames, not as embedded objects.

Re: Format differences
Select the text box and click "Ungroup" in "Object" menu. Now all single objects are selected. When you deselect the outer grid (Shift+click), only the grey text boxes are selected. Go to Object > Properties, tab "3D", and click on the square at "No 3D effect"...

Re: Useability
Earlier I used to work with QuarkXPress and sometimes with InDesign. My experience is: If you are not in the printing industry or doing really high-class typographical work, you are just fine with TextMaker for all your needs.

Re: Hyperlink missing from file
I agree. In this case, I attribute it to the fact that the people at SoftMaker seem to be at their absolute limit presently due to the release of SMO 2018 for Windows and the running betas of SMO 2018 for Mac and Linux.

Re: Hyperlink missing from file
The support people check the forums continuously, so if a bug was reported here it is not necessary to send an additional email (unless further questions arise and you are explicitly asked to).
