Re: Multiple styles with duplicate names

My idea would be a Search-and-Replace run for the whole document, replacing the wrong style with the correct one (can be done with the "Format" button in Search and replace), and then to delete the wrong style. But of course duplicate styles with identical names shouldn't be possible. Maybe an overl...

Re: Page Break - DoubleCarriageReturn

I'm afraid you won't be happy with my answer, but inserting a blank paragraph to increase space between paragraphs is a bad habit inherited from typewriter times. The correct way is to go to Format > Paragraph... (for single paragraphs) or Format > Paragraph style > Edit (for permanent changes) and ...

Re: Tab Indents Paragraph Instead of Moving Cursor

In Tools > Options..., tab "Edit", there is an option "Set left and first-line indent with Tab and Backspace keys". Does it help to uncheck this?

Re: Wrong underline default

IIRC, different underline styles were introduced with TextMaker 2018. Before, there was only this thin one. But the ability to choose a default option for underlining would surely come in handy.

Re: Default locations for stored files

*.xltx files are document templates. SoftMaker Office stores all templates in a special folder (which can be defined per Tools > Options... > Files), so the program will find them when needed. So the default location for opening and saving template files is the template folder, which makes sense for...

Re: Select multiple, and separate, lines in TextMaker 2018

This is a special case of non-contiguous selection. Unfortunately, TextMaker isn't able to do that: https://forum.softmaker.com/viewtopic.php?f=305&t=19575.

Re: record printing

Don't know if there is a way in PlanMaker, but when you import your database into TextMaker and use the label function there it should be easy (Insert > List/label...).

Re: Indented Textmaker paragraphs not indented when viewed with MS Word

Go to Format > Paragraph, tab "Paragraph", and set left indent to 1 cm, first indent to -1 cm. After typing the number, press tab to align the text with the following lines. When I save this document as *.docx and open it in Word 2019, it is unchanged. NB. It might be easier to use automatic numberi...

Re: Problem annotating images

That’s the way I do it, too, but instead of pasting the picture and then converting it into a picture frame, I first draw a frame (Object > New picture frame) and then choose the image to insert. Saves one step. (Make sure that in Tools > Options..., tab "Edit", "Insert frames and pictures immediate...

Re: extend background colour into/past the left margin selectively

I see two other ways: 1. Make the left margin narrower and use a paragraph style with left indentation for all lines (can also be done via the horizontal ruler). 2. Insert the background colour as a drawing (Object > New drawing; Rectangle with filling, no lines, Layout: Move with text; text wrappin...

Funny. When I proceed exactly as in your video, the footnote font size changes. Could you please provide a sample document where this problem occurs?

Re: Font equivalents

Anybody creating a new font can name it as he likes (as long as he doesn't violate copyright for an existing font). Especially "classical" fonts like Baskerville, Caslon or Garamond have been recut, digitized or re-interpreted so many times by different type designers and companies that there is abs...

Re: Font size does not apply on footnote style

There is a paragraph style "Footnote text" and a character style "Footnote reference". Both are applied automatically when you insert a footnote. Please check if you haven't mixed up these two.

In the Search-and-Replace dialogue box, enter ^n for a non-breaking space. You may also use the button "Spécial" and there select "Espace insécable".

Re: Multiple Text Files

Of course you may open multiple documents simultaneously. The document last opened will be in the foreground, but the others are not lost. There should be a toolbar with tabs for each open document above your document window.
