Re: Is it possible to create a working dictionary for a non-supported language?

Rest assured that I am not going to confuse "interesting remarks" with academic research. :) Thank you for trying to help, but this link leads to a dictionary for the Voikko extension, and Voikko is, as I wrote before, quite different from Hunspell and works only with LibreOffice. (As I have learned...

Re: Is it possible to create a working dictionary for a non-supported language?

Indeed. I did some web research now. Instead of Hunspell, developers' efforts for Finnish went into Voikko, which is only available for LibreOffice/OpenOffice and Firefox.

Paska.

But thanks anyway.

Re: Is it possible to create a working dictionary for a non-supported language?

ecbritz, thank you for the interesting remarks on language (I liked most the bit about the "rustic charms" of South African and Australian English). You mentioned "the amazing range of .oxt-packaged languages" - where can I find free dictionaries in oxt format? Sometimes, I am in need of Finnish and...

Re: How do I define the default settings of a numbered paragragh?

For me, the most annoying aspect of Textmaker 2016 is the defaults seemingly foisted on the user. For instance, every time I start a new document, I have to go to Tools > Options > Language to check that the background spell-checking is ON and the hyphenation is OFF, because the settings done durin...

Re: How do I define the default settings of a numbered paragragh?

How do I change the DEFAULT settings of a numbered paragraph? When I do Format > Bullets and Numbering > Bullets and Simple Numbering > Numbering > Horizontal position, no default setting seems possible, I always get .63 cm. How do I set another measurement as default? I have to second ecbritz here...

Re: The correct way to customise numbered lists?

This shouldn't occur. Probably there is some older formatting in the way somewhere. Can the problem be solved by selecting the whole document (with Ctrl+A), then invoking Format > Bullets and Numbering..., tab "Bullets & Simple Numbering", and setting the horizontal position to 1.25 cm? In the attac...

Re: The correct way to customise numbered lists?

I just noticed that the Cascading Outline File I found in my downloads folder wasn't posted by you but by another user in the TextMaker HD forum. Anyway, maybe it can be useful in some way. Sorry for mixing this up.

Re: The correct way to customise numbered lists?

I have had a closer look at your sample files now. As for the Cascading Outline file, my advice for producing such a file would be: 1. Don't tamper with the page or paragraph borders (horizontal ruler); keep them where they are. 2. To set the standard tab distance to 1.25 cm, go to Format > Tabs... ...

Re: Any auto-correct, auto-replace or shortcut-to-character-replacement available?

TextMaker has both options. The auto-correct function (e. g. -- to en-dash) is available via Insert > SmartText... Click "New...", insert as "Name of SmartText entry" what you want to type (two dashes), then type or paste into in the big field what shall appear in the document (en-dash). Check that ...

Re: The correct way to customise numbered lists?

To illustrate a few points, I have attached a sample questionnaire. My workflow was as follows: First, I wrote down the complete text, regardless of format. Only after this was done I started with the formatting. The questionnaire part (below the heading) is formatted as a hierarchical numbered list...

Re: The correct way to customise numbered lists?

I'm not quite sure if I understand your question correctly. In my experience, the automatic formatting of numbered lists in TextMaker leaves almost every formatting option open ("almost" only because it is not possible to right-align the numbers): left and right indentation, distance between number ...

Re: Unclear date options + Is a default date format possible?

ecbritz, I didn't yet reply to your question as I did some testing first, too. As far as I see, there are actually five (or six) ways to insert a date into a TextMaker document: 1a. Insert > Date/Time... inserts the current date as normal text. It can be edited later just like any other text. 1b. If...

No, TextMaker always opens the folder last used.
