Re: Shortcut for merging cells

As we are in the TextMaker forum and you refer to Excel: Is this a PlanMaker or a TextMaker issue?
But anyway: In both programs, you can define your own keyboard shortcut. Just go to Tools > Customise..., search for "Merge cells" in the left panel, then press "Shortcut keys" and define a shortcut.

Re: .BAK files

The advanced backup options I described are only available in the full (paid) version of SoftMaker Office, not in FreeOffice.

Re: controlling line feed in tables

Thank you for the document, that made it easy to find the solution:
In fact, TextMaker creates a new line, but the height of the row is set to "Exact", so the new line is not visible.
Set the cursor in the row, go to Table > Row properties... and set "Height" to "Auto". Bingo!

Re: Default File Format?

The default file format is the format a newly created document will be saved in when it is saved for the first time. When you open an existing document and save it again, it will keep its original format (unless you deliberately choose a different one).

Re: controlling line feed in tables

I couldn't reproduce this behaviour in TextMaker. Could you please provide a sample document where this effect occurs?

Re: controlling line feed in tables

Are you talking about TextMaker or PlanMaker?
If PlanMaker: right-click in a cell, choose "Cell..." from context menu, go to tab "Alignment". In "Properties" (bottom right) there is a checkbox "Wrap text". This should be checked.

Re: Paragraph line spacing

I am not quite sure if I got this right: 1. Does this mean the last paragraph must not stand alone on the last page, so that there are at least two paragraphs on the last page? 2. Does this mean that between (all) paragraphs there should be a spacing big enough to make the last paragraph on each pag...

Re: Moving/Transferring from MS Office Excel and Word

Word and Excel files can be opened seamlessly by TextMaker and PlanMaker respectively. Only macros are not supported.

Re: Spell Check

When you select your text, right-click and go to "Character...", which language has the text?

Also, when you go to Tools > Options..., tab "Language", "English (United Kingdom)" should be the default language.

I see. Snowshed and I didn't realise that the asterisks have to be in squared brackets, too.
Thanks for helping, Sven.

Re: Modify database structure, import data

Oh sorry, I was still in TextMaker mode and didn't realise it was about the forum.

Yes, I have exactly the same problem. Looks like a bug in the phpBB forum software.

Re: Modify database structure, import data

The field names from the original database are now displayed in the fields of the first record. Original data in the first record are not displayed. Reopening the dbf file in PlanMaker is as it should be. When saving the dbf file in Planmaker, check "First row contains field names". Is it just me, ...

Re: How to remove a page?

Are you sure there is no additional page break or empty paragraph at the end of your document? By clicking the button with the paragraph sign in the icon bar you can make them visible.

Re: Modify database structure, import data

First answer: Upgrade to TextMaker 2018. In this version the option to modify the structure of existing databases was added. Second answer: AFAIK there is no way to merge databases directly in TextMaker; but see next answer. Third answer: As long as it is standard .dbf, the output of any program ca...
