Re: Basic Maker

We expect most questions about BasicMaker to be in how it works with TextMaker or PlanMaker. So, you should post such questions either in the TextMaker or PlanMaker forum.

Should this assumption turn out to be incorrect, we'll open a separate forum for BasicMaker.

Re: Localization

We tried something like this once (where we invited volunteers to translate the software), but except for Dutch (which we are shipping), it was a failure. Nobody was prepared to translate more than 25000 strings, so these projects only caused effort and had no tangible results. If you wish to transl...

Re: Company connections

For international customers, the difference is that SoftMaker Office comes with BasicMaker (our BASIC macro language) and Ashampoo Office does not. Only relevant for German-speaking customers is that SoftMaker Office comes with DUDEN dictionaries for the German language (think: "Webster for German")...

BasicMaker is just one of the possible OLE Automation clients for SoftMaker Office. You can just as well write OLE automated scripts using Delphi, C/C++, Python, Ruby*, whatever. You are certainly not limited to using BasicMaker. * see for example: http://homepage1.nifty.com/markey/ruby/win32ole/ind...

However, meanwhile, additionally, consider a broader and community supported plug-in architecture similar what FireFox guys did. Please see the following link to get what I mean. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-U...

It may be old, but it makes it possible to rewrite existing Excel and Word macros and plug-ins with a reasonable amount of work to run in TextMaker and PlanMaker. And that is a killer argument for SoftMaker Office.

The future will be here soon... :D

The next release of SoftMaker Office for Windows has an OLE Automation-compatible programming API and ships with the scripting language BasicMaker. Both will enable anybody to automate TextMaker and PlanMaker and to write add-ins.

iPhone is not an open platform for developers. We'll look at it again when they find that third-party software is a good thing.
