Re: Turning off hyphenation?

Jossi - many thanks! I'm sorry that I didn't originally notice this option under File>Options>Language. (I was rather expecting to find this choice under File>Options>Edit). In any case, thanks again for your help.

Turning off hyphenation?

I'd like to turn off the automatic hyphenation option. I've modified the normal.tmvx file to specify "Never" under Paragraph > Text flow > Hyphenation:, but every time I start a new document it seems that automatic hyphenation if turned ON! Is there some other way to change the default hyphenation m...

Re: Fit text to cell

I only considered this a "bug" since a particular DOCX file is displayed differently in Textmaker than in Word 2007. Since TextMaker doesn't seem to support the "Fit text to cell", I guess my comments could be considered a request for an enhancement. However, since TextMaker does allow character pit...

Fit text to cell

I've just upgraded from FreeOffice 2018 to TextMaker 2018. Unfortunately, the problem described below still exists in the upgraded program even though it was my understanding that the developers had been made aware of this situation some time ago. Hopefully, the NEXT service pack will solve this pro...

Re: Fit text to cell

Sven,

Unfortunately, the latest service pack does NOT seem to have fixed this "Fit text to cell" problem. Can you check with the developers and make sure they are - hopefully - working on a fix?

Thanks,
Wayne

Re: Any way to change AutoShape defaults?

Sven, I'm afraid I can't find find the properties of the Autoshapes to double click. If I bring insert a specific Autoshape I can right-click on that item and select Properties and then change line thickness, color etc. If I then click on Default... (on the Object Properties window) those settings "...

Any way to change AutoShape defaults?

Every time I insert an AutoShape item I have to change the line color & thickness along with the fill or transparency settings. To save having to do this all the time I'm wondering if there is any way to change the default setting for AutoShape items? I tried updating the Normal.tmvx template file, ...

Robin,

That seems to work fine - many thanks. I assume this approach will also work to change other defaults as desired....

Any way to have widow/orphan control ON by default?

Widows and orphans are not generally wanted in any text document. Is there some way in TextMaker to have Widow and Orphan control turned ON by default? Otherwise, it is necessary to select all paragraphs in every document and turn ON that option manually. This a nuisance, particular while composing ...

Re: Hyperlinks activated while trying to edit

Sven,

Thanks for making the developers aware of this annoyance. In the meantime I guess the only solution is to leave out the hyperlinks until all other editing is finished...

Hyperlinks activated while trying to edit

I'm working on a document that contains hyperlinks to different web pages. When I try to edit text in the vicinity of a hyperlink that link is activated and the associated web page "pops up" over the window where I'm editing. I then have to click back onto the text page to continue editing - all ver...

Re: Fit text to cell

I'm sorry for not responding earlier, but it took a little time to generate a small test DOCX file with names and addresses obscured. In any case, please examine the attached DOCX file with MS Word and notice on Page 3 the fit-to-cell entries of PAT: and PHYL:. Now take a look at the same file with ...

Fit text to cell

I'm using a Python program to generate a DOCX file that contains a multi-page table of names and addresses. Some entries are too long to fit within a table cell so I'm (programmatically) using Word's "fit to cell" option to shrink text appropriately to make everything fit. The resulting DOCX file lo...

Re: Reading OpenOffice (ODT) files?

It seems that the FREE version of Textmaker is able to read odt files which are - in my test case anyway - automatically converted to DOCX format (which is my default save format). This is very helpful since I want to get away from OpenOffice and odt files! - Wayne

Reading OpenOffice (ODT) files?

The documentation (via F1) for the free version of TextMaker mentions that OpenOffice Writer files (ODT) can be read (and apparently written). However, I don't see any option to read or write such ODT files and I wondered if that feature is only available in the paid version of TextMaker? Thanks, Wa...
