Re: Default file locations

The QuickPath function is present in the Open dialogue, but if you are using the Windows system dialogue, it is only a very small button (above the left side of the file name field).

Re: Rotate text

In this case, you are right (and I was wrong). You could achieve the same result using TextArt, but this isn't easier to do than the snippet method and the results are rather worse (no kerning, for example).

Re: How to import page from another document

1. Save a copy of your document.
2. In this copy, delete all other pages except the page you want to extract. Save.
3. Repeat 1 and 2 for all remaining pages.
Sorry, there's no easier way.

Re: Rotate text

The only way is: Sorry to correct you, Miguel, but this is not the only way. There is a much easier one: 1. Object > New text frame 2. Type the text into the text frame. 3. Right-click the text frame and choose "Properties..." from the context menu (or go to Object > Properties...). 4. Go to tab "I...

Re: How to import page from another document

If a page contains not only text but also objects (text frames, picture frames, drawings, form objects), it is not possible to copy the whole content in one go. You need two actions: 1. In Edit mode, select all the text and copy it to a new page in the other document. 2. Then change to Object mode, ...

Re: Inserting PDF images

Let me help out: When you go to Object > New picture... or Object > New picture frame... , PDF is not offered in the list of file types. When you select "All files (*)" and then a PDF, you get an "Invalid picture file" message. So, obviously, it is not possible to insert an image in PDF format as a ...

Re: [Resolved]Inserting rows and columns

This command cannot only insert complete rows but also parts of rows. That's why it's called "Insert cells" and not "Insert rows". What you want is an additional command for complete rows only. Personally, I don't think much of having duplicate commands for the same action at different places.

Re: Default file locations

But we are discussing FreeOffice, and I don't see that as an option in FreeOffice. Just checked: QuickPath is available in FreeOffice. Even if it was available, it doesn't solve the issue. I can't designate every subdirectory I have documents in as a quick path; that would just duplicate a file man...

Re: Default file locations

By the way, SoftMaker Office has a most handy feature: Quick path (at the bottom of the Save dialogue). I use different directories for different kinds of documents (e.g. invoices, letters etc). So neither a fixed directory nor SoftMaker's way of offering always the directory last used meets my need...

Re: Default file locations

When you create a new TextMaker or PlanMaker document, then go to File > Save... or File > Save as..., which directory is offered in the Save dialogue?

Re: Inserting rows problem

I know at least two ways to insert a row. Either I mark the complete row below by clicking the row number in the left column, then go to Worksheet > Insert cells (or type Ctrl-+), or I set the cursor in one of the cells in the row below, then go to Worksheet > Insert cells and select "Insert complet...

Re: Wide spaces between words in justified text

I'm the last one to deny that a DTP program is far superior to any word processor for professional and demanding typographical tasks - I have worked long enough with QuarkXPress to know that. Still I don't see the need for using an additional text editor. Can you give me an example for code that can...

Re: Footnotes display

There has been an extensive discussion of this issue in the German forum some time ago, but the result is that unfortunately it's not possible, as miguel-c already wrote.

Re: Convert file to DOCX from command line?

As the script I mentioned is in German, I've made a rough English translation: REM TextMaker Automatic File Conversion 2018 Set tm = CreateObject("TextMaker.Application") tm.Application.Visible = True DIM x, z AS Long DIM Dateityp(22) AS String Dateityp(0)="TextMaker document" Dateityp(1)="TextMaker...
