Saving files

I am working on quite a long document (400 pages with illustrations) and am finding that TextMaker, while handling this large file OK, is taking an inordinate length of time to save the file, in .docx format, both when auto saving or with a manual save. Is TextMaker 2018 any better in this respect?

Re: Educational Version

There is now a FreeOffice 2018 version which provides the opportunity to explore the ribbon interface and other features. I must say that SoftMaker's implementation of ribbons is the best that I have ever seen and is extremely flexible. This is a notable achievement by the development team. They hav...

64 bit SMO 2016

Hi,
When are we going to see a 64 bit option for SoftMaker Office? This would be especially useful for PlanMaker and Presentations, especially as so many modern laptops and desktops are running 64 bit versions of Windows anyway? And ditto for Linux. Any thoughts?

TextMaker English Dictionaries

I love TextMaker as a writing tool, but I do wish that you would find a better UK English dictionary and thesaurus - maybe in the next version? The WordWeb tool works quite well, but I am sure that there must be plenty of others you could incorporate. Currently, I use an old version of the Oxford Re...

Interfacing with SoftMaker

For those who have wondered about the dBase functionality in TextMaker, which actually works very well, and the lack of the DataMaker application in the UK. The Open Source Lazarus development environment might be of interest. This is an Open Source Delphi like environment which can work with dBase ...

Feedback on your web site

Why on Earth have you placed that daft banner on your website? There is nothing more infuriating, especially when using a laptop, of visiting sites which insist on copying the herd with these absurd banners. They tell you nothing and prevent visitors from getting to the information that they are loo...

Re: Service Packs

Thank you Martin for this informative and clear response. I had imagined that the code would be modular enough to be able to just update a small section of it (comes from years of developing in Delphi), but I do understand your explanation. I agree that there seems no rationale behind the reason why...

Service Packs

I, like I suspect many SoftMaker users, use both SoftMaker Office 2012 and SoftMaker Office 2016 as there are some things that seem to work better in either programme. While I appreciate that there will be no more service packs for 2012, I think it would be very worthwhile if you were to offer a 'mi...

Idea for Basic Maker macros

There has been quite a lot of dialogue, including for SO 2012 and, I believe on the German support site, about using BasicMaker macros for practical purposes. How about constructing a simple dBase database, that can be opened in TextMaker, containing all known, error free macros, together with a tit...

Re: Page borders

Thank you Robin, I will give this a try - yep, works a treat and easier than trying to do it with paragraphs. Now, if SoftMaker could add some simple repeated patterns to complement the lines, that would be perfect.

Page borders

Would it be possible to incorporate page borders, something like those in Microsoft Word, with just a few simple designs. This might be a useful feature for many who use TextMaker as a Desktop Publisher. You can struggle with paragraph borders and simple lines, but it is not quite the same. Such a f...

Re: Default language issues

Right oh! Will give it another try :) Update - reinstalled SoftMaker 2016 from scratch in order to use the SoftMaker dictionary. Set everything to 'UK English' including in the 'character format' area and it seems (touch wood) to have picked up the UK dictionary. So... it is vital to set the charact...
