Re: Date Reliant On system Date Fromat

There is no such issue. The date in a date column is only displayed in the system date format. Internally, it is stored as a date offset from 1900-01-01.

The sole exception would be when converting strings that look like dates to internal dates using conversion functions. But that is rarely used ...

There will be a new version of SoftMaker Office Professional this year that you can purchase as an upgrade.

Re: NX Updates

We generally don't preannounce, and I went farther than I usually go. There will be exciting improvements, but it is really too early. Wait for the public beta announcement, then we'll spill the beans.

That will come later this spring/early summer (XLOOKUP etc.). No, next week's announcement is about a proofing improvement in TextMaker.

If you want to use the font in other apps on your computers, phones or tablets, feel free to do so.

If your question is about distributing the fonts to others, we don't allow that.

Some stupid spammer overloaded one of our servers today. This is solved and will likely not happen the same way in the future.

Please activate now.

Page margins are a chapter property, not a section property.

Re: Keyboard defaulting to Japanese

If you have multiple keyboard layouts installed, pressing Ctrl+Shift toggles between them, and it's awfully easy to do this by accident.

I always turn off Ctrl+Shift switching in Windows.

Re: Track changes now comments deletions

The thing is that track changes are in flux at Microsoft. Originally it was a document option. Now, they are still storing the setting in documents, but ignore it and prefer what the user chose in the UI. We are on a similar path with upcoming versions of SoftMaker Office.

Re: Microsoft Office vulnerability

Thanks for posting this — the information you received is about a Microsoft Office zero-day that Microsoft patched out-of-band on 26 January 2026: CVE-2026-21509, a “security feature bypass” tied to Office’s OLE/COM protection mechanisms, and it’s been reported as exploited in the wild.

Is this ...
