Re: Linux install script is doing some strange things

(1) Before 1417 I was on 1415, then 1414, 1413 etc, so I am describing a regression between Beta versions, not a regression since 1234, which was last stable version.

(2) ‘ Linux: The installation no longer associates SoftMaker Office with all supported document types without asking. Instead, this ...

Re: Linux install script is doing some strange things

Two postscipts:

(1) It also places the launch scripts in duplicate, both where it suggested and where I requested;

(2) It does seem to be safe to delete the duplicate installation, I've now tried! (Was aware I could always run the script to reinstall if necessary!)

Linux install script is doing some strange things

So, this relates to the script installofficenx, which is extracted from the tarball softmaker-office-nx-1417-amd64.tgz, which is downloaded from https://www.softmaker.net/down/softmaker-office-nx-1417-amd64.tgz

Running the script, as usual, it notices I am not running it as sudo, and asks if I want ...

Re: Colourful titlebar is now grey

Good News! We're pleased to announce that a new colored theme will be introduced for SoftMaker Office NX/2026 for Linux in the next beta release.

I hadn't seen this post before the beta release came out. But I noticed the coloured top bar was back as soon as I installed the new Beta.

And I ...

Re: Linux ARM64

Not sure if you are interested, but you might be. I was curious about exactly how smooth the experience was, so wanted to learn more, and AI told me this:

An ARM64 kernel cannot execute that binary natively. Something is translating it, and if Box64 is what's installed on your system, that's ...

Re: Linux ARM64

Please click the ribbon command File | Options | Appearance tab, then check the option "Use system file dialogs."

I had a look, and sadly that option is greyed out. :(

Update: since, on my standard x86_64 linux device, SoftMaker 2024 invokes its own, and SoftMaker NX invokes the OS dialogues ...

Linux ARM64

8) 8) 8)

I'm not sure if this is off-topic, but I've just installed this BETA on a Linux ARM64 device, and...

It was easy and straightforward to install, and appears fully functioning :D :D :D

I think I've read that you don't officially support ARM64, but frankly most software out there ...

Re: Auto reduce text size

Thank you for your post. However, this feature has already been implemented in the latest Beta.
I know, post was to compliment on the new feature, not to ask for it.

Auto reduce text size

Being able to auto-fit is a good idea. Even if you don't want to keep the layout, it's much easier to manipulate the text when you can see it all...

New zoom keyboard shortcut

Feature is good but using scroll key is more fine-grained. Would be good if keyboard shortcuts had more granularity (went up and down in smaller increments, enabling settling at more zoom levels) Thanks.

Review of 6 new features

The 6 features I reviewed here https://forum.softmaker.com/viewtopic.php?p=85864#p85864 apply to PlanMaker too.

On formatting of unformatted text, it is more complicated in PlanMaker. Sometimes I want to copy across formatting, and sometimes not; sometimes I want to copy across actual values and ...

I've taken a look at the list of new features here https://www.softmaker.com/en/products/softmaker-office-beta to check them out. Hopefully feedback on 6 of them might be helpful.
