Re: Amazon is not accepting my PDF.

Finally heard back from KDP. Here is what they said: Our team investigated on the issue and informed us that the interior file contains corrupt data and will not successfully process as submitted. You will need to ensure that all fonts are fully embedded within the native interior file, and ensure t...

Re: Amazon is not accepting my PDF.

I tried exporting to the PDF/A-1a format already. Didn't work. I just used TextMaker's print to file feature to create a new PDF and that was rejected as well. Clearly TextMaker is doing something to the file that makes it unacceptable. Correcting that is what I'm hoping you will be able to do. Sinc...

Re: Amazon is not accepting my PDF.

I heard back from Amazon's customer support and here is their reply: Hello John, Greetings from Kindle Direct Publishing. Upon further review of your file, I saw that the reason for the interior error was not due to the formatting but rather due to the program used to create your PDF. You will need ...

Re: Amazon is not accepting my PDF.

Amazon is a little hard to work with. I haven't yet found a way to actually talk with a support person. The help I've been getting comes from the author community, not Amazon. Part of my frustration is that the error message doesn't give any specifics. I've just been guessing at what the problem is....

Re: Amazon is not accepting my PDF.

Ok. Three files are attached. A fourth will follow as three is apparently the limit. This PDF was generated from the *.docx file. I had the same result when I generated from the *.tmdx file. I do the upload here: https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/title-setup/paperback/PV2Z4XTH3RJ/content You have to have...

Removing Formatting

I've been having trouble uploading a PDF file to Amazon for publicaiton. I posted a separate thread to the developers and they are looking into it, but it's looking like I need to start over on formatting my book. Maybe if I take it step by step I can trace down the problem. So, I need to remove all...

Amazon is not accepting my PDF.

I used TextMaker to typeset my manuscript. I used a *.tmdx file while doing the work. Then I exported the file as a standard PDF and uploaded that file to Amazon. After taking a really long time to process the file, Amazon rejects it with a message that says it ran into an error processing the manus...

FreePDF product key?

I am in the process of installing FreePDF on a Linux system using Lutris/Wine. I saw a thread (from last June) that said it worked well under Wine, so I'm glad about that. My installation went fine, but I can't find the product key to activate the software. How do I get one?

Thanks!

Embedding Fonts in my document -- Can I do it?

How does one go about embedding the fonts I used in my book? When I uploaded it to KDP for publishing there were problems generated because the fonts weren't embedded.

I have the same question, but for Linux. How do I install this font so I can access it from TextMaker?

Formatting an Epub book

I'm using the home version of Softmaker Office. When I look at the comparison between the home and the Universal versions, the only additional feature Universal has that I may need is the Epub export. Right now my plan is to save a file as a PDF and then use Calibre to convert it to Epub. I suspect ...

Endnotes -- inserting text after them.

When formatting my book for the Epub version, I converted my footnotes to endnotes. Worked well! However, I do have end matter that really should follow the endnote section and TextMaker has repeatedly defied me when I try to do that. Whenever I click on the space following the endnote section it au...

Re: Footnotes insert blank lines

Ok, so I need this problem fixed ASAP, but am a little reluctant to send you my file. It's copyrighted material that I am preparing for publication. Can you give me some assurance that it won't be copied or go anywhere else?

Footnotes insert blank lines

I frequently use footnotes displayed at the bottom of the page. Often a footnote will insert blank, uneditable lines on the bottom of the following page. This makes a mess of the formatting I've been doing on my book. What is happening and how do I fix it?
