"This File Format is Not Supported"

This happens a lot to me and I still am unsure why but usually I have a backup save that I can open which means I lost a bit of work depending were it last saved but no big problem. The problem is that now my backup save is corrupted as well and now I have lost everything which is ridiculous. Anyway...
