Re: Eliminating Blank Lines Between Paragraphs

No condescension intended. I saw that you mentioned using "Paste Unformatted" but you didn't say whether or not you are pasting into a custom style rather than the default "Normal" style. Since paste unformatted sets the imported text to the style of the paragraph into which it's...

Re: Eliminating Blank Lines Between Paragraphs

Re search and replace: Go to Edit > Replace... In the dialog box, click Special > Paragraph mark twice for the search field and once for the Replace field. Click "Replace all" and there you are. I think this is easier than using an additional text editor. Yes, that's the procedure I used ...

Re: TextMaker can only text in English

No I just wanna enter simplified Chinese words when in the software I change the type method to Chinese and try to typing but the result is no response I can only use English to type English characters. How are you changing to Chinese? Are you using the MacOS to change the default keyboard to Simpl...

Re: Eliminating Blank Lines Between Paragraphs

So, the Remarkable is essentially coding enter as CR/LF. No, ReMarkable is coding [ENTER] as TWO CR/LFs. If the extra line breaks are coded into the file, there's no way TextMaker or any word processor can automatically remove the extra line breaks upon pasting. But you can just use find and replac...

P.S. If this tablet runs Linux, can you install SoftMaker Office for Linux on it?

Re: Eliminating Blank Lines Between Paragraphs

Do you run TextMaker with reveal codes activated? (Meaning you can see the paragraph symbols -- ¶ -- at the end of each paragraph.) If so, is there a paragraph symbol in each of the blank lines? That would mean that the ReMarkable app is adding paragraph breaks unnecessarily. I'm not sure how to add...

Re: TextMaker can only text in English

Are you asking about entering simplified Chinese characters, or are you asking about typing in English (or some other language) and having TextMaker automatically translate it into simplified Chinese?

Re: Font name equivalents

Big publishers usually use Garamond or a variations of it (Adobe Garamond, Garamond Nova, New Garamond...). Others use Baskerville, or even Times New Roman. Yes there are exceptions to the rule, but mostly all publishers use serif fonts for body text, mostly with oldstyle serifs (like Garamond) or ...

Re: Latest update

Thanks, Martin, but TextMaker has exported to EPUB since at least the 2018 version. And Amazon KDP has accepted EPUB files for as long as I can remember (which, for KDP, isn't all that long.) Hence my curiosity about why the special announcement? Does the update mean that there's now something diffe...

Font name equivalents

Various discussions here have asked (and some answered) which font or fonts in the Megafont NOW collection are equivalents for popular "brand name" fonts from expensive type houses. There are so many fonts available, and so many variations in Megafont NOW, that it's difficult to know what ...

Re: The Ashampoo version

The Ashampoo version has fewer features than our Standard and Professional versions (no BasicMaker, no enhanced Thunderbird, no Berlitz dictionaries), offers neither service packs nor automatic updates, and you need to get your tech support from Ashampoo only. It's simply a reduced licensed version...

Latest update

I just read the e-mail announcing the most recent service pack for SoftMaker Office. One of the updated features is "Kindle-compatible EPUB export." Can you please explain what this means? TextMaker already exports to the EPUB format -- better than LibreOffice. But Amazon doesn't use the E...

Rotating text boxes?

I was trying to do a book cover using TextMaker. Not just an e-book cover -- I needed to make a complete cover for a printed book, with a back cover, a spine, and a front cover. Doing the spine, of course, required turning the text at 90 degrees to the orientation of everything else. I'm certain I h...
