Re: Smallest amount of RAM for a nicely operating Textmaker

I was thinking that one would have been in touch.
It would be a bit of fiddling to recomission the computer. I have no idea what OS is on there at the minute.
I will install it on a virtual machine and report back. Thank you!

Smallest amount of RAM for a nicely operating Textmaker

Hello

I have a project where I will be working away from the office.
I need a computer I can carry with me. I have an old netbook, but it's not very powerful. 900Mhz (single core!) processor, 512MB Ram.
Will Textmaker work on it, or is it too old?

Re: Form letter query

I found out how to do it myself! It's exactly the same as MS Office, although I'd completely forgotten. In case you are wondering: F2 to add a formula The formula is LEFT(FIELDNAME;1) FIELDNAME is the name of the field in your database, and 1 is the number of characters to return. Easy. Thanks for t...

Form letter query

Hello

I am looking to insert the first character from a database field into a Textmaker document, then merging. So if the field contents were "1 Apple", I'd get "1" in the document.
Is this possible?

Thanks. :D

Of course, Martin. No shortage of x86 machines, and I'm delighted that you still support Linux. Thanks for the reply.

Is Raspberry Pi/ ARM based computer support likely?

Hello I use an ancient PC with Debian happily with Softmaker. I simply don't need more for my business. But I like to think about the future! When my current machine gives up, I'd love to start using a Raspberry Pi. I can get everything working, but I'm stuck with LibreOffice. It would be great if y...

Referring to numbers in lists - is this possible?

Hello At work, I have to draft reasonably complex legal documents. They take the form of numbered lists, although most of them are written from templates. It would save me a lot of headaches if I could insert fields that referred to the numbers of other list items. For example, I would like to be ab...

Is there ever likely to be a Linux version?

Hello Firstly, congratulations on the new product. I've not tried it yet but it has some features I've been looking for for a long time. However, I'd like to know if there is ever likely to be a Linux version. When Windows 7 goes out of support next year, I'd like to migrate us away from Windows alt...

Paragraph line spacing

Hello At work, I need to write a legal document which has very specific formatting. I can make a good copy with Textmaker, but it would be really useful if I could do the following two things without fiddling with font size and paragraph spacing. The final paragraph of the document must have at leas...

A script to copy a section from an existing document and paste it into a new one.

Hello Would it be possible to write a script that would let me: Copy a complete section of an existing document (which is hidden text) Paste it into a new, blank document without formatting , that is analogous to Edit>Paste special>Unformatted text. The document I'd like to print to is a template I'...

Re: Can I create a new Textmaker document containing the fields from a table?

It's quite a complicated form. I think it might be a bit clunky to just enter the fields into a database.

I can see myself having to write something in Python to do this job. Thanks anyway. :D

Templates question

Hello

I'd havea template that has a text box which users can fill in. When they save the file, it would be excellent if the file name was the contents of the textbox.

Is this possible?

Re: OneNote alternative planned?

I've had great success with Zim desktop Wiki. It wants for nothing compared to OneNote for my use. And the files are plain text, so I can open them in anything. I've never really forgiven Microsoft for the time I spent years writing a database in Access 2000 that can't be opened by any software afte...

Re: Can I create a new Textmaker document containing the fields from a table?

Thanks for your quick reply Sven-l. What I'd like to do is take have a form like the attached example "The new form.tmdx" with four textboxes, and have people fill it out in form mode. I'd then like to write a script which generates a file based on the attached template "Data to here please.tmvx" wi...
