Can only one file be open at a time?

Hi. I am new to FreeOffice; I used to work with LibreOffice or with OpenOffice. So I notice that when I open a file, then try to open another one, the first one is gone of my screen. It's as if only ONE file can be open at the same time. Am I doing something wrong? Sometimes I need to have 2 or 3 do...
