Embedding Movie Files

Post by jatrotte » Thu Aug 28, 2008 2:15 am

After I embed a movie file into a presentation, I wish to be able to change the path to the presentation to point to the same directory relative to the presentation file, not an absolute path to the file. I am creating a presentation that I need others around the country to see and edit, so if I could change the path to the movie to be something like .\movie_file.avi, Presentations (or Powerpoint  ) could see it without the same drive\path structure as when I originally made it.

Is this possible?

Hello,

relative paths are not accepted by Presentations and PowerPoint.

However, whenever Presentations does not find a movie file (or image, for that matter) under the path stored in the presentation, it will check the current folder for it -- the "current folder" being the one the presentation file is in.

So, to distribute your presentation, just copy the .prd or .ppt file and all supporting files into the same folder.

Sven,

Thank you very much. It works exactly as you said. Too bad Powerpoint doesn't. Bless Softmaker. Stupid Microsoft.
