search/replace on styles

Post by engine » Thu May 03, 2007 5:45 pm

I often use a simple tagged format (mml) to exchange between apps that aren't on speaking terms, then use search/replace on the tags to apply styles. I don't seem to have got the hang of this in Textmaker :-{

Consider a line like this:

Code: Select all

<:h2>Sample line in plain text file
I put <:h2> in the Search for ... field, without any formatting
I put <:h2> in the Replace with ... field, and select my :h2 style from the Format pull-down.

The result? I'm told n changes have been made, but though the style name changes in the styles field (top left) the style is not applied

Tips for getting this important-to-me search/replace option working as I'd hope for will be appreciated - thanks in advance![/code]

You're right. It works when replacing with a character style, but it doesn't work when using paragraph styles. I will post a bug report to the developers.

Thank-you! having this option available will help make up for the lack of backward compatability with TextMaker on my Zaurus ;-}
