Incorrect rendering of dialogues

Post by eddrose » Sat Mar 17, 2007 10:18 pm

Hi, just purchased office 2006 for GNU/Linux and I have found pop-up boxes don't render.

If I cover them, then uncover them, they render fine. It's just the initial drawing. I use the UDE/UWM desktop environment which probably points to the cause. I'm guessing you expect the window manager to do something which good ol' UWM doesn't. udeproject on sourceforge for more info.

The system is still usable, just annoying. Cheers for any time you spend on this.

Do you have a screenshot we can take a look at? Currently I'm not sure what you are meaning.

Yes, where do I send it please?

The OK and Cancel buttons, etc aren't drawn.

Thanks for the screenshot. However, on all other window managers it works fine.
Are you able to try running TextMaker with another window manager?
Additionally, try changing the video driver to something more general like "vesa".

I've tried it with the VESA driver and the problem persists.
However, trying it without UWM running and the software works fine. Like I say, it's not a serious fault as it's only on start up, but I felt it worth raising the point as I've not know any other software to do similar with UWM running.

Cheers for you time.

So it seems like this is a UWM only issue. Due to the screenshot it looks like UWM does not paint the first window correctly.
As it works with all the other window managers, this seems to be a UWM only issue, which means you should contact the developers of UWM to take a look at this issue. They can use the free trial version to be able to reproduce this issue.

Just to close this one.
Without any update to UWM/UDE the interface seems to be working properly now.

I have just updated the system (gentoo), packages as follows...
dev-java/javatoolkit-0.2.0-r1 to /
dev-libs/gmp-4.2.1-r1 to /
app-misc/mime-types-7 to /
dev-libs/STLport-5.1.2 to /
net-misc/dhcpcd-3.0.16-r1 to /
dev-embedded/picprog-1.8.3 to /
media-libs/freetype-2.1.10-r3 to /
sys-libs/ncurses-5.6 to / (not finished)

I'm guessing the problem is the way they all interact, nothing else has ever done this in UDE, but UDE is quite 'young', and SM doesn't do it elsewhere.
Maybe the fonts?

Oh well, hope it helps someone some day.
