No, different CPU -- TextMaker on Linux requires an x86-compatible CPU.

Any plans for a port if Nokia N800 sales well?

I have found both Text and Plan Maker very useful on my PPC and would welcome the chance of buying these products if ported to a N800

Gnumeric already runs on the N800 and Abiword is frantically being ported.

Of course, you could always wait for Softmaker to get off their collective butts... :P

Well, the demand for a Symbian OS version (or for Nokia N800) is very low, so porting would be a lot of work, but we will not make enough money with it to get the costs for porting.
If the demand woud be large enough some time, we can talk about porting again. :)

Nokia N800 runs a version of Linux NOT Symbian OS

Post by StevieUK » Tue Jan 30, 2007 9:34 am

N800 is still fairly new (second model in range on a N770). There is an amazing amount of newsgroups on this device though.

It does run Linux but does not use a x86-compatible CPU.

I would have thought it is worth looking at how much work it will take since many linux OS projects have been ported to the chip that Nokia uses in this device

We have to finish some other projects first. After this, if the demand is large enough, we can talk about porting again. :)

For whatever it's worth, add me to the list of people interested in seeing a version of your product made available for this platform. I actually own a nokia 770, not the 800 model, but I'm assuming that they're similar enough.

Thanks for a great product!

Mike
