[Solved] Right to left support (Hebrew)

Post by jfe » Tue May 22, 2018 8:59 am

Hello,

I just installed freeoffice on arch ( https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/freeoffice/ ) and I an trying to figure out how to get Hebrew to work. Currently I can type a Hebrew word and it will look normal. But, punctuation marks are on the wrong side of the like
example:
If I type (the Hebrew for)
Hello!
I get
!Hello

Also the cursor is on the wrong side of the line. Is there a way to fix that?

Have you set the paragraph's writing direction to "Right to left"?

Yes and the result is that all letters get written from right to left but not punctuation

I tested it in Kubuntu 18.04 64bit with tml18 rev.931.0518 and Hebrew keyboard layout. When I enable support of Arabic text (in the settings) and set the text direction to "Right to left", then type a sentence and close with !, everything looks good. Have you done it that way?

Thanks, that works! Is there a way to make an icon that switches the paragraph direction? I typically switch between both languages when writing something.

Should I open up a new topic for my question? I can't get spellcheck to work in either language. When pressing Review -> Spell check a popup comes up saying that spell check is completed (and shows know misspelling) my example text was

This is a test,
זה עובד!
דגךלכיחדג דגכ גדךלחדגכ ךחךגדכ חדגכ ףח
sdflkj sldkjf ;ljsfd ;lkjsdf;l sdlfkj slfj eqiowoeif w f

The last 2 lines have no correctly spelled words.

You can add a shortcut key for the paragraph dialog. Right mouse click on the ribbon, then select "Customise Ribbon...". Here search for the paragraph dialog and set a shortcut.

I don't see the option customise ribbon. Should I click somewhere else?

You are using FreeOffice. You cannot customize the ribbon in FreeOffice, but you can press Ctrl+Shift+A and Ctrl+Shift+D for changing the writing direction of the paragraph.

Thanks. That solves that issue. I now have to get the spellcheck issue fixed.
