TextMaker on OpenBSD 3.5

Post by jon-d » Wed Sep 08, 2004 4:10 am

* Install the port /usr/ports/emulators/redhat/
* Uncomment the line #kern.emul.linux=1 in /etc/sysctl.conf see
* http://www.openbsd.org/faq/faq9.html#Interact , section 9.4.
* Get TextMaker and unpack it in /emul/linux/
* In your ~/.bashrc or ~/.kshrc enter the following line: export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/X11R6/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
* In your ~/.profile add the following: ENV=$HOME/.kshrc; export ENV (or ENV=$HOME/.bashrc).
* Run TextMaker by typing /emul/linux/textmakertrial/tml, in a Xterm.

To see these instructions as written up in TextMaker, download the *.pdf from here:

Thank you for this information! We incorporated a reference to this on our features page at http://www.softmaker.de/tmldetail_en.htm (scroll down to system requirements).

Have you tried the same route with PlanMaker?

PlanMaker on OpenBSD

Post by jon-d » Thu Sep 09, 2004 6:47 pm

Hello Martin:

I got the trial version of PlanMaker and installed it in OpenBSD's /emul/linux directory.
I started it by typing $ /emul/linux/planmakertrial/planmaker

It ran just fine. I loaded several *.xls spreadsheets and they rendered just fine. All the steps above used for configuring Linux emulation work for PlanMaker too.
