Lost accented characters

Post by dhave » Wed Sep 21, 2005 1:49 pm

I have a number of documents that I wrote in French using OpenOffice for Linux. I saved them in .doc format so that colleagues could access them with MS-Word.

When I open these French .doc files in TextMaker 2002 for Linux, the accented characters and the cedilla all appear as question marks.

Is there something I can do to fix this? I tried putting in additional font locations in Extra / Preferences / Files.

Thank you.

O.K. now - my mistake

This post can be ignored. The problem no longer exists.

I just tried to reproduce this problem and wasn't able to. I must have done something wrong in OpenOffice when I tried to save as a .doc file.

At any rate, I just tried again to save the document in OpenOffice and open it in TextMaker, and the French document now displays properly.

Sorry for the trouble.
