font substitution

Post by woodworker will »

On occasion some of the true type or open type fonts which I use become corrupted and must be uninstalled. Sometimes I can't even open the file. I don't see a "font substitution" dialogue in Textmaker. Some publishing programs have such a dialogue and it allows me to change the font which I use in a document before I open it. Have I missed it? If not, it would be a useful tool.

There is no way to change a font before you open a document, but the Search-and-Replace function in TextMaker allows to search for fonts and replace them. Just click the "Format..." button in the Replace dialogue box (it gives access to all character style options), then use "Replace all". Of course this doesn't help if the document can't even be opened. :(

I will refer your suggestion to the product management.
