Format differences

Post by dvally »

Hi - I have a Word document that when opened in TM2018 appears to have format differences. Specifically inserted text boxes are appearing with a gray background. When opened in Word, the boxes have a transparent appearance.

When the document is printed from TM, the boxes appear as displayed in print preview. I have not made any changes to the default installation of TM. Any suggestions as to how to fix this?

Attached is a page of the document and also a screen cap of what I see when comparing them.

Thanks

Select the text box and click "Ungroup" in "Object" menu.
Now all single objects are selected. When you deselect the outer grid (Shift+click), only the grey text boxes are selected. Go to Object > Properties, tab "3D", and click on the square at "No 3D effect".

But SoftMaker should look for the reason why this Word document is interpreted by TextMaker as having a 3D effect.

Thanks Jossi, that worked as described. I still don't understand why the 2 applications treat the file differently. When I made the changes and saved the file, Word was able to open it with no issues. The format did not look any different in Word.

But thanks for your workaround! Seems like I should have been able to figure that one out myself...

It wasn't so obvious. I hope SoftMaker will be able to solve this problem.

Confirmed, the file now opens with no 3D effects enabled. Looks identical when opened in Word.

Thank you Softmaker Team!

Greetings, as to formatting differences, I am still experiencing some differences between TextMaker and LibreOffice/Word when saving in the Doc format. For instance, sometimes what appears to be nice round bullets show as weird characters when I open the doc file LibreOffice or MS Word.

While it suffices to "undo" and "redo" the bullet command (icon), I would surely rather to have this solved.

Thanks and keep up with the good work.

Could you please provide a sample document?

Greetings,

I made a sample file directly in TextMaker, then saved it both as RTF and DOCX and opened it in LibreOffice. Follows a Zip with files plus 2 screenshots.

Sorry, I do not have Word on my workplace, but I can replicate the experience in my home later. Anyway, it is the same phenomenon.

Thanks for all.
