Delete the license file (ofres16.lic or of2016.lic) and start TextMaker again, then enter the key once more.

So, where would find this magic file at? I looked in /usr/share/freeoffice2016/ and found something similar but not with a ".lic" extension. I think it had a ".dat" extension.

Update: Some how my /home.softmaker is now owned by root. I will fix that and get back to you. (I also found the ".lic" file in there.)

That would explain the issue, because SoftMaker Office can't access the file with these rights.

I changed the rights to .softmaker and about 8 other .* directories. Removed the ".lic" file. Actually reloaded from the .deb. Re ran TextMaker. Put in the key and now the computer and I are happy campers.

I do need to review my backup/restore procedures for "next time".

Thanks for your help. =D>

I just had a similar problem when upgrading from standard to professionnal version of Softmaker Office. After the installation I was still under the standard version and was not asked for a product key. I just deleted the home/.softmaker folder, was then asked for the product key and finally got the professionnal version. I am using Linux Mint 17.1.
