Export as epub

Post by divaddrof » Mon Nov 09, 2015 11:11 pm

Exporting as epub:
- the meta data box wouldn't allow me to add a cover image
- the exported epub did not display the images within the text - the <img statement was there but the images were not where the link pointed. The link pointer to where the images were in the original document but the images had been put in a different folder by the epub export.
- the exported file did not pass epubcheck - probably because of the above.

In File=>Export as EPUB=>General you can also add a cover image.

Could you please send us a sample file (as original TextMaker file and in ePub format) to forum(at)softmaker.de? Thank you!

P.S.: Which epub application and epub checker are you using?.

Sorry Sven - I've just started installing the new version - so have removed the previous version and its files.

I'm using Calibre to read and edit the epub files - and I also have epubcheck installed.
(Just tried to upload attachments as epub - but the forum won't accept it - I will rename the files to zip.)

The only other file I have is the original LibreOffice file.

The file paths are:
~/Shared/2015-07-FinBook for the document files
~/Shared/2015-07-FinBook/images for the images

Incidentally - there are only three image files and they are used in many places throughout the book - but it seemed, from looking at the epub file that they had been loaded as many individual images - not sure about this one.

It appeared that epub creation did not create a folder called images, within the epub zip.

Hope this helps

David

Could you please tell us the exact revision number (in TextMaker under Help=>About)?

Also, what we really need is the file from which the ePUBs were created. Could you please attach it here or send it to forum(at)softmaker.de referring to that thread? Thank you!

Sorry for the late reply - I've had flu.

TextMaker Professional 2016 (rev. 748 1112)

I have attached the original
FinBookBlock-2015-11-07-TextMaker.odt

Extract from epub file in Archive Manager -

OEBPS/Content/Images
Cover-01.png
Image-01.jpg
Image-02,jpg

Extract from OEBPS/Content/Content0003,xhtml
<div>
<img src="Images/img00001.JPG" width="104" height="63" alt="" />
</div>
As you can see the file linked and the actual file name are completely different.

Hope this helps.

Oh and another thing - the META box wouldn't allow me to add a cover image because I didn't tick the box to enable that option. - Sorry - my bad.

I exported your attached .odt sample file into ePub, extracted it and opened the EBPS/Content/Content0003.xhtml in firefox. The image is visible and in the source code the linked file name is correct. But I tried it with a newer build of TextMaker. Please wait for the next service pack and try it again. The linked file names should be correct then.
