PlanMaker vs. Excel 2003

Postby hamaer » Mon Mar 09, 2015 12:08 pm

Issue: Whenever a spreadsheet is saved as Excel97-2003 (xls), the it cant be properly opened with Excel 2003 anymore. Excel comes up with a message that there is a name conflict and it can't be the same name as the build-in one. See JPG attachment.

Workaround: Entering a name in this pop-up window enables Excel to open the spreadsheet, and continue. So it's not really impossible to switch between both software applications, but it's annoying. Since quite some people use Office 2003, I have to make sure each time, that customers can open the spreadsheet without any error message.

Note: This happened with all three BETA versions so far.

Could you please attach a sample file where that problem happens or send one to forum(at)softmaker.de? Thank you!

Sure sven-l, no problem. I create one quick and attach it to my next message. All it takes is to have a XLS file open in PlanMaker and save it. That's already enough to trigger the pop-up window. I'll post something within an hour or so.

Hi sven-I,

To speed everything up, I just grabbed one spreadsheet with calculations in it. The content is meaningless now and made anonymous.
Everything else (e.g. formula) is still there. I decided to take on those as the calculation may make a difference, who knows. :)

I edited the file with PlanMaker 2016, and saved it as Excel 97-2003.
Opening it again in Excel 2003 triggers the former described pop-up window.

The bug has been solved and should no longer occur in the next beta.
