Uneven spaces between lines

Post by carandol » Sat May 02, 2015 6:59 pm

I'm getting a weird problem with TM2016, where the spaces between lines are sometimes wider than they should be. Here's a pic. I've also attached a short .docx file to see if anyone else has the same problem with it or can see a reason for it

Some characters are not formatted in Calibri (check the apostrophe in "You’ll roll"). Single line spacing means "make the linespacing in the way the font designer wanted it". And the designers for Calibri and Arial Unicode MS had different spacing ideas...

Ah, thank you! That makes sense. Sometimes people send you manuscripts which they've done all sorts of weird and wonderful things to... :)

But how come, if I select the paragraph and reformat the style as Normal (ie Calibri), it doesn't reformat the unicode bits into Calibri?

Setting the paragraph style back to Normal does not remove fixed formatting within the paragraphs. That's what Format/Standard is for.

I always wondered what that was for! You learn something every day. :)
