Dialog size

Postby julian » Tue Aug 12, 2014 6:20 pm

Dear SoftMaker,
I love the new app design.

Can you make the dialog box size more responsive to screen size. Many times the dialog box scrolls left & right. But displays no extra fields or buttons. eg the Smart Text dialog box contents could easily be made more compact.

Hello Jim,
I was really noting] that many dialogue boxes are too big for my screen.
I am using a 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 which I usually use in Portrait mode with TextMaker, I am hoping to use this new version iin Landscape mode.
Below is a list of some of the dialogue boxes.
If you need an exhaustive list it will take me longer.

File > New
File > Properties (Tabs: View, Statistics, Review all could reduced in width without changing the layout.
File > File Manager (Buttons could be reduced in width. File list box could respond to user's column widths.
File > Export as PDF (care would have to be taken with 'Font Options' but the width could be reduced.
Format > Character
Format > Paragraph (care would be needed in the Tab Boarders but change box widths and reducing the size of the preview would make it fit my 7")
Format > Boarders (see Paragraph above.)
Format > Link (Simply does not need to be that wide).
Format > Section (Simply does not need to be that wide).

As I say this list is Not exhaustive, there are many more.

As a final thought: how about having two Dialogue Box layouts; one for Portrait mode and one for Landscape mode.

Hi,

Well the dialogs fit but I cannot read the main menu titles.

What I am requesting is the oppersite off "Use large icons". To have the option of different sized icons, controls, and buttons eg 25%, 50%, 75% but the same sized text. And possibly even 100%, 125%, 150%, 175%, 200%?

I would like to control the size of icons, controls, buttons, and the width of input boxes, not the size of text in dialog boxes or on menu items.

It seems to me that dialog box controls could be reduced or rearranged to reduce the over all width of dialog boxes.

Regards Julian

Hi Jim,

The new UI Zoom feature is good. It does reduce the size of the dialog boxes, which is good. I still feel that two dialog box designs: Landscape and Portrait, would be a great improvment. If selected by the user on a dialog by dialog bases would be spectacular as TextMaker is design to be used on tablets that are easily used in Landscape and Portrait.

The Icon sizes are good, but I would ask for a size between Small and Normal; how about Reduced, say 75% of normal at 81% UI Zoom.

The dialog boxes are reduced when set to 81% even the text in menus is reduced but the size of the menu is not reduced. It would be nice if more menu options could be seen when the text is at a small percentage.

Regards Julian.
