Punctuations in TM become symbols in Word, and vice versa

Post by ZDevil » Fri Mar 04, 2005 12:53 pm

Just found a couple of curious conversions from punctuations entered in TM to Wingdings symbols in Word 2003.

-> becomes a flagged mailbox and a radiation sign.

= becomes a floppy disk.

Also symbols like -> (one arrow, sorry can't show it here) in Word 2003 becomes a strange symbol in TM (forgot which one).

And there are a few more cases, but I forgot to put them down.

I wonder if TM can fix this. It would be a bit troublesome for symbols as simple as an equal sign to be turned into something strange in the document.

Anyway, thanks for the developers' hard work! I just wish TM would be even better.

Sorry that I didn't make it specific enough in the last post.

-> becomes a flagged mailbox and a radiation sign after )

= becomes a floppy disk after an italicized character.

I will try to reports other cases together with the environment in which they occur when available.

Thanks!

Another update:

Oh, I didn't realize that many of the symbols I entered with the keyboard on Zaurus (mine is SL-C860), such as = (Fn E) will become Wingdings. Stupid me  . However, I have yet to find a way to select the desired font (such as Times New Roman). The Formatting and Character dialogs don't show enough options.
