Softmaker Free Office For Linux Won't Install

Post by MikeBravo » Sat Jan 18, 2014 11:21 pm

I downloaded the 32 bit Deb version of Softmaker Free Office For Linux per the instructions to use it with my 64 bit Linux Mint Cinnamin.

Your instructions says to open a terminal windows and first run: dpkg --add-architecture i386 and then run: apt-get update.

When I tried this I got the following error message: dpkg: error: unable to create new file '/var/lib/dpkg/arch-new': Permission denied

Can anyone tell me how to overcome this?

Thanks.

Please make sure to use that command as root (with su or sudo). Does that help?
