Calibri Font as default font

Postby Janine » Mon Nov 16, 2015 11:31 am

Hi there

I can't find the Calibri font in the dropdown font menu or in the Format=>Character=>Typeface. Yet when I open an MS Word document mailed to me that is in the Calibri Font, it shows as Calibri, but the moment I close that document, it doesn't show at all. All the other MS fonts are there except this one. Is there a way to install it?

thanks a mill

It seems Calibri is not installed on your machine or TextMaker does not find the font in the specific font path. Please make sure that the font is installed and set the correct path to the font in Tools=>Options=>System.

How to render it (calibri) correctly? I can find some references upon googling, to correct it for libreoffice. But it doesn't work for softmaker (it's not smooth).

Have you tried the rendering options in Tools=>Options=>Appearance=>"Smooth edges of screen fonts"?

Yes I have tried as per suggestion, both the grayscale and the subpixel. The font is still not smooth. The option seems like for the interface font, not for the document font.

We are using FreeType, like most other Linux packages, for font rendering. Yes, it might be different from Windows, but it should be the same across all Linux applications.

Can you upload some screenshots to let us compare?

Yes. Please see attachment.
All other fonts are okay and smooth. Only calibri and cambria are not smooth.

I tried this method I found by googling, but not success.
