Softmaker pre-installed?

Post by JSR » Wed Oct 24, 2012 6:44 pm

I've recently noticed a number of Android devices being sold "for Christmas" via TV Shopping Channel outlets and, just recently, they've all been saying how users can do their office work (word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations) on the free, pre-installed "Kingsoft Office".

If this continues, more new tablet users will be using this pre-installed product and will not be considering the likes of Softmaker Office. Everyone here knows about Softmaker Office for Android, but it's probably less likely to get the widespread uptake it deserves because Kingsoft Office is being supplied pre-installed on these tablets.

Does the Softmaker team have any plans to have Softmaker Office pre-installed on Android tablets (either sold direct, or through third-parties)? This may increase your footprint in the Android arena.

We are talking to different manufacturers but this cannot be publicly announced yet.

Glad to hear it. I saw them selling 7" tablets again on the shopping channel Ideal World yesterday and the presenter mentioned that they'd sold 5,000 tablets in just about one week. They'd sold out of one the previous weekend. That day they'd sold out of 3,000 JoyTab 7" tablets, and they'd just replaced it with another brand of 7" tablet and had already sold 1,250 of them.

If Softmaker Office had been on all of those, you'd be taking over the world! (Okay, maybe not, but even so... )
