Typing lag

Post by toomanymatts » Thu Aug 16, 2012 9:10 am

Tried it for the first time on a document last night, pasted in some comments from an email and tried to type in line...big time issues with typing lag. I would type - say - 'the cat sat on the mat'...look up at a blank screen and watch as a few seconds later 't.....h.....e...........c....a....t' appeared on the screen.

Presently using LibreOffice and had never had an issue like that before, so can rule out it being an issue of hardware/processing power.

Which Linux version are you using? Does it help if you switch off SHM or XIM in Tools=>Options=>System?

turned both off, no different. Similar issues selecting text...really sloooooow. Unusably slow for me in this beta (sorry!)

Also I noticed that there is no launcher icon coming up for Textmaker in Ubuntu when its open, just an empty space there (which when clicked on, does open the window)

We need a bit more information:

- Which system is used (CPU, Graphics card, Notebook, Netbook, etc.)?
- Does the lag happen in new empty documents, small documents, big documents?

Thank you!

Perhaps could be Automatic separation of syllables. Someone can try disablig it? It work to me. But it is a necessary tool.

David, I cannot really believe that hyphenation is the culprit.

But yes, please all affected customers should try and report back if turning it off makes a change. It would also be interesting if turning off the sidebar changes the speed.

Sorry - hadn't looked in on this thread in a while (basically til I got notification of the new beta)

In the current (Beta 3) this lag persists, but is not as bad as it was in previous.

I'm using a Dell Vostro V13, Celeron 1.3 ghz, 2gb ram, i'm not sure what graphics card is in this, but I don't have issues with any other applications. Running ubuntu 12.04.
