Earlier today, when loading TextMaker 2012, the program automatically quit and exited. The same held true for PlanMaker and Presentations -- "The bug" was common to each SoftMaker Office component. Reinstalling SoftMaker Office using the Repair Option had no effect.
The fix: Revo Uninstaller with deepest removal, and; simply running two more registry optimizers apps -- To be sure to catch whatever started "the bug."
SoftMaker Office 2012 was reinstalled (as Vista administrator) plus new Service Pack #654 was then installed. So, all is well in SoftMaker Office-ville.
No complaints here because "Windows stuff" just happens. This is posted simply because it happened, and someone else may benefit by this experience.
Great that you were able to solve this on your own.
But if it ever happens again, please run TextMaker with the -debug parameter ("TextMaker.exe -debug"). This will log the launch of the software in the file My Documents\SoftMaker\tmlog.txt and using this log file we can find out what happened.
Dynabrade wrote:Had the same issue...I followed your advice and ran the textmaker.exe with the debugging protocol--here is the log file. Thanks much!
According to the log file you opened the English FAQ (by clicking on the file in explorer) and after 5 seconds you closed TextMaker. Why is "Tip of the day" mentioned here? Is the tip displayed and TextMaker closes afterwards, or does it close before? Is there a tmcrash.txt in the tmlog.txt folder after TextMaker closed?
