IMAP account: want to remove email/attachments from server

Postby PaulM » Fri Aug 24, 2012 11:18 am

Hi, I followed the very automated account setup in emClient for an existing email adress.

It worked a treat - very nice.

However, it has established the connection using IMAP and what I really wanted was the ability to remove the email from the server. I'm not given that option under the IMAP tab, and I can see no way of changing the account to POP3.

Is there are way to remove the email from the server using IMAP?
Can I convert the account to POP3? (if so how?)

I can't find any clues on doing what I want in the help file. (Yes I did try :-)

(That server keeps blocking emails due to lack of space, which is why I need this feature, and move all emailing to one more generous provider.)

[emClient bought via SoftMaker Office Pro if you are wondering]

When using IMAP, the emails are never copied to your PC. They are always stored on the server. If you delete an email, you delete it on the server.

How then Do I request an account to be POP3?

I NEED to remove emails from the server when they are read, otherwise the server fills-up and no more email is received.

You need to set up the account again using Tools=>Accounts=>New Account (delete the old one first). Then select POP3 instead of IMAP.
