How to mark e-mail as read after you reply?

I've disabled the "mark as read after X seconds" option because I don't care for it. However, when I reply to an e-mail, eM doesn't mark it as read. Is there a setting to make this happen? I don't want to manually have to mark-as-read every single e-mail I answer. That's cuckoo-bananas.

Here is an answer from the developers:

Unfortunately this feature is not implemented. However you can enable "mark messages as read after opening in separate window" and open the message you want to reply to in new window.
This is on the wish list for future versions.
