Problem under PortableApps environment

Postby jdaughtryrcn » Thu Nov 17, 2011 5:20 pm

In the portableapps.com framework, the launcher expects the executables to live in the primary application folder. TextMaker.exe et al already do, but the beta eM Client is in a sub-folder. Will it be elevated to the main folder in the final release? If not, can there be a launcher program in the main folder that points to the actual client in the sub-folder?

I referred your question to the developers.

Here is an answer from the developers:

---

Even though it is possible, portable usage of eM Client is currently not officialy supported.
In older version we had a support for U3 technology, but because of little demand
and popularity of this technology we dropped its support. Furthermore we don't have
a control of directory structure of binaries.
We may consider support for some of the newer portable technologies. This is on the agenda for the future.

I have found that moving the eM Client folder up one level appears to achieve the result I was looking for. There are other problems with running portable, but it is a step in the right direction.
