Styles drop-down off-piste

Post by JohnWasilewski » Thu Dec 01, 2011 12:08 pm

One of my two screens is orientated vertically, which is exceedingly convenient for report writing.
As a result, the display is tall and narrow.

When I select some text and pull down the styles list, this happens:
Styles drop-down off-piste.jpg
As you see, all of the styles in the list have disappeared off the LHS of the screen.
(I have redacted a lot of teh text on the page because of confidentiality)

We would need an sample file to reproduce that behaviour here. Could you provide one (send it to forum(at)softmaker.de)? Thank you!

Sven, I don't think you need a sample file. What you DO need is two monitors.
In the following test, no file is saved or needed.

Just do this:

With two monitors, primary on L, secondary on R

Create a blank document.

1. With the TM/document window in the L monitor
2. Pull down the style list.
3. Notice how it is slightly wider than the style pull-down icon strip.
4. Notice how it is left-aligned with the style pull-down icon strip.

5. With the TM/document window in the R monitor
6. Pull down the style list.
7. Notice how it is slightly wider than the style pull-down icon strip.
8. Notice how it is right-aligned with the style pull-down icon strip.

9. Assign a very long style name to any arbitrary paragraph/font settings
10. Repeat 1 to 8.
11. Notice how, at 5 to 8, the short style names are off the screen.

I hope you can follow the above,
