Save as XLSX [FR]

Postby DrAT » Wed Jun 16, 2010 5:25 am

There is no option to save XLSX files from PlanMaker 2010. Is this likely to become available?

Yes, we work on such an export filter for xlsx but there is no fix time frame for the implementation into PlanMaker. If you save your files into xls, everyone with MS Excel or OO Calc will be able to work with your files.

Just a bit of confusion I wanted to share.

When saving a file in the drop down list of the file type there is no option for xlsx. However if you put the .xlsx after a file name for example "test.xlsx" it does save it as in the xlsx format.

Similarly a file created in Office 2007 in the xlsx format can be opened from the file open dialog. Of course if you attempt to open a xlsx file directly from the windows mobile file explorer it opens the file using the Excel Mobile

That's still not an XLSX file. That's an XLS file with the wrong file extension. Excel silently opens it without complaining since it obviously can read XLS files.

Using DOC files is a workaround but not a good one. Office 2007 running in compatibility mode loses some features in the Office suite. Office 2010 is even worse in this respect.
