Backspace sometimes deletes the *following* character

Post by g.salmeri » Sat Dec 18, 2010 5:14 pm

I have found a strange bug (I suspect that it was introduced in the latest service pack). If I press once the backspace, it deletes regularly the previous character. But if I press it twice very rapidly, the second time it deletes the *following* character. (Disabling XIM has no effect). Sometimes this is rather annoying... I would be very grateful if you could correct this behaviour!

I tried it with rev. 591 in Fedora 13 but could not reproduce this behavior. Which Linux are you using?

I'm using Xubuntu Lucid Lynx, but now I cannot reproduce it either... If I unterstand in which conditions this problem appears, I will write again.

Now I could reproduce the problem, but my finger is not quick enough! I have to hold pressed the backspace key, with a repeat rate high enough. If for example I start in this position:

1111111111111111111|00000000000000000000

after one second or so I can see that not only some ones, but also some zeroes were deleted. I imagine that the problem is more noticeable when the computer (I have a basic netbook) is slowed down by several applications opened or the like.

Ok, thank you for the info! I now informed the developers.
