I've just installed the 64-bit version of Linux Mint on my PC and downloaded the tgz version of Softmaker Office 2010 (from the link provided in my original registration email). I followed instructions, installed SO using the sudo command, and everything seemed to go fine. The icons appeared on the menu and it seemed that it was installed. But when I click on the icon to run it, nothing happens. Equally, when I right click on a .docx file and choose TextMaker, nothing happens. Its a while since I used Linux, so I'm a bit rusty on problem-solving, any help appreciated!
OK, forget that. I discovered that when you install Linux Mint from inside Windows, its just runs as a live session (which wasn't obvious when I was wasting my time installing things! ). That's probably why it didn't work!
