SM Presentation crashes with mov file

Post by andrzejm » Thu Dec 03, 2009 1:10 pm

I've created simple presentation - one slide, one link on the slide to mov file (QuickTime Player correctly installed and working). After starting slideshow, the application immediately crashes totally and finished closed with short black screen.

Any idea why?

Any way - how to use mov files in presentation?

Hello,

can you please send us that presentation file to reproduce the crash here? Thank you!

You can insert media files via Object=>New Media Object.

Sven,

Please find enclosed file. I've sent it without the target mov file - you can use any file in this format or I can send the one I've used.

(The second take)

Sven,

The mentioned by you way (inserting media object) gives exactly the same result - black screen and crashed presentation application.
But in the editing mode right-click and go to link command works properly - opens movie in QuickTime window.

The mentioned file is slightly above 600 KB. Please specify the address I can use for sending this file.

Thanks, I received the video and tried it again. It opens my VLC media player if I click on the Link in your file and the VLC Player played your movie but Presentations does not crash.

Anyway, I informed the developers to investigate this problem.

Sven,

Thank you for investigation.

I see the only difference is the player used (Apple QuickTime in my case).

Hello,

unfortunately there is not much we can do here. It seems that it is your Quicktime player that crashes with this video.

Not much that Presentations can do here. Please try it with a different player or maybe fix the video.

Sven,

Thank you for the investigation.

I've found that SoftMaker Presentations must be saved to disk before is played - in this case it doesn't crash.

Nicole:

There should be a label with the product key and instructions on the bottom of your netbook.
