Powerpoint incompatibility

Postby hofsoft » Mon Mar 25, 2013 4:29 pm

Hi there,

My daughter (10), made a great presentation with Presentations 2010.

However when i open (and play) it in MS powerpoint 2007, all the backgrounds are gone.

My daughter discovered it at school (during her presentation using MS office), and after that, i tested it and got the same result on my own laptop.
It happened on 2 different machines, so it looks like a compatibility problem?

Any idea why this happens?

Best regards,

Jossi

This is not an answer to your question, only a hint for future occasions: When you install a portable version of SoftMaker Office on your USB stick (see: http://www.softmaker.com/english/tipsof_en.htm), you can play your presentations everywhere using SoftMaker Presentations and will never run into incompatibilities.

Was the presentation saved in .ppt or .pptx file format?

This should not happen. Could you please send us a sample file to forum(at)softmaker.de referring to that thread? Thank you!

Thank you for your file! I received it and opened it in MS PowerPoint 2013 and the newest available revision of SoftMaker Presentations. In both programs the background is white (in all slides). Have you (or your daughter) created the presentation in SoftMaker Presentation 2010?
Does it make a difference when you save the file with the background shown as .prd file? I mean, does at least Presentations still show the background after saving in .prd file format and a restart of the program?

It was made in SoftMaker Presentation 2010. But it also works fine with FreeOffice rev. 675.
I saved it into .prd file, and it opens fine in Softmaker Office. MS Office 2007 won't recognise it, of course.
I could send you the .prd if you want.
