Function to return an empty cell?

Post by David.Boettcher » Thu Jan 06, 2011 6:05 pm

I am converting to SoftMaker Office because Lotus 123, which I have used for nearly 30 years, will never be converted to 64 bit, or even full 32 bit, and so will not run on Windows 7 64 bit.

In Lotus 123 I could write in cell F55: =IF(C55<>"",+C55+D55+E55,""). This would leave cell F55 blank if cell C55 were empty, and works in PlanMaker.

The problem comes when I try to then use F55 in a second formula in cell H55 like this: =IF(F55+G55>0,+H54-F55+G55,""). If cell C55 is empty, then PlanMaker sees that F55 has a blank text value and returns #VALUE!

I could of course modify the formula to return 0, but I rather like the cells blank rather than having 0.00 in them. Is there any way to achieve this?

Thanks for any help!

Regards - David

In Table > Properties..., you might deselect "Show zero values". But of course, as this is a property of the whole table, it could be a problem if you have other cells where you want to see the zeros.

I think that will work, I'll try it.

Thanks!
