Help! My caption numbers have gone awry . .

Post by David.Boettcher » Thu Sep 08, 2011 12:42 pm

I have inserted about 20 picture frames into my document, and some of the numbers started to go wrong, e.g. after number 8 the next one was automatically numbered as 10, so I thought that 9 had disappeared. I deleted some text and then pasted it back in and the caption number 10 went to 9.

But later I inserted a new picture, and after that I had two captions that were out of order, i.e. 12 was before 11, so I deleted both captions and tried to make a new one for what should be 11, but it has auto-numbered itself as 14!

Can I force the captions to renumber themselves in order somehow?

So I saved the document and then reopened it and the numbering is now correct.

Try F9.This should reorder the numbering.
